Healthy Harbor Volunteers
To keep the waterfront healthy and clean, it takes the efforts of everyone, both locals, tourists, and out-of-towners! Volunteers with the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore can assist in preserving the harbor and the variety of ecosystems that make up our waterfront as well! Come volunteer with us. We cannot do this without you.
Mr. Trash Wheel Volunteers
Mr. Trash Wheel often needs volunteers to assist with events. Trash Wheel volunteers help make events such as Earth Day Birthday, Floatilla, and Trash Wheel Fan Fest run smoothly. Don’t forget about Mr. Trash Wheel’s Dumpster Dive, which is an annual event where volunteers sort through trash wheel trash and count.
Oyster Garden Volunteering
Each year we grow over 100,000 baby oysters (spat) in the Baltimore Harbor. As an oyster volunteer, you will help us keep our baby oysters clean and measure their growth. This program runs from September through June, when volunteers will have the opportunity to transport their mature oysters by boat to a Chesapeake Bay Oyster Sanctuary in the Patapsco River.
When would I help out with oyster restoration?
Volunteer oyster gardening happens on two Saturday mornings each month, September through June.
Baltimore Floatilla
To raise awareness about paddling in Baltimore Harbor, Waterfront Partnership created the Baltimore Floatilla, an annual paddling event taking place each June. After a two-year hiatus, the Floatilla returned in June, 2022. Over 250 paddlers participated in last year’s pirate-themed event, following a “treasure map” to historic ships, floating wetlands, and two googly-eyed trash wheels.
